Dr Nick Clemons - Basic science

Dr Nick Clemons is a senior post-doctoral fellow at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, where he works in the laboratory of CIB Phillips. He has a keen interest in pre-clinical models of Barrett’s oesophagus and cancer, and will be working in this area alongside PROBE-NET investigators.

Dr Damian Hussey - Basic science

Dr Damian Hussey, Flinders University SA, is a highly experienced molecular biologist at Flinders where he heads the laboratory team of CIE Watson. Dr Hussey oversees storage of esophageal tissues and conducts laboratory analyses at Flinders. He will also co-supervise and mentor junior members of the PROBE-NET team.

Dr Michael Michael - Basic science

Dr Michael Michael, Flinders University SA, is Head of the Molecular Biology Lab in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Flinders. Dr Michael is a long-term collaborator with the PROBE-NET team, where he provides assistance with laboratory advice as required.

Dr Alex Boussioutas - Gastroenterology

Dr Alex Boussioutas, Western Hospital Melbourne, is a gastroenterologist with research interests in Barrett’s oesophagus. Dr Boussioutas will assist with patient recruitment and provide clinical advice as required. He will liaise principally with CIB Phillips.

Dr Luke Hourigan - Gastroenterology

Dr Luke Hourigan, PAH/Greenslopes QLD, is an experienced endoscopist, particularly in pioneering new techniques of mucosal resection. Dr Hourigan is a long-term collaborator with the PROBE-NET team, where he provides assistance with patient recruitment, tissue collection and clinical advice as required. He will work closely with CIA Whiteman, CID Hayward and CIF Barbour.

Dr Bradley Kendall - Gastroenterology

Dr Bradley Kendall, PAH/Greenslopes/QIMR Berghofer, is a gastroenterologist and endoscopist, who is also leading epidemiological studies of obesity and BO. Dr Kendall is a close collaborator with CIA Whiteman and the PROBE-Net team, where he provides assistance with patient recruitment, tissue collection and clinical advice as required.

Professor Finlay Macrae - Gastroenterology

Prof Finlay Macrae, Department of Medicine, University of Melbourne, The Royal Melbourne Hospital. Professor Macrae has had a career in translational and clinical research focusing on diseases of the large bowel and also has research interests in Barrett’s oesophagus. For PROBE-NET, he will provide assistance with patient recruitment, tissue collection and clinical advice as required.

Associate Professor Andrew Taylor - Gastroenterology

Associate Professor Andrew Taylor, St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne VIC. Dr Taylor is a gastroenterologist with research interests in Barrett’s oesophagus. Dr Taylor will assist with patient recruitment, provide clinical advice as required. A/Prof Taylor has current collaborations with CIB Phillips.

Professor Michael Cox - Surgery

Professor Michael Cox University of Sydney Nepean NSW: Experienced upper gastrointestinal surgeon and Director of Whitely-Martin Research Centre. AI Cox will assist with patient recruitment and the clinical outreach program through Nepean. He will work closely with CIH Eslick.

Associate Professor Mark Smithers - Surgery

Associate Professor Mark Smithers, Mater Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital, is an experienced upper gastrointestinal surgeon and long-term collaborator with the PROBE-NET team. A/Prof Smithers will assist with patient recruitment, provide clinical advice as required. A/Prof Smithers is a long-time collaborator of CIA Whiteman, CID Hayward and CIE Watson. He has also been a surgical and research mentor for CIF Barbour.

Dr Cuong Duong - Surgery

Dr Cuong Duong is an upper gastrointestinal surgeon and clinician scientist at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. He is a close colleague of CIB Phillips, with whom he shares numerous research interests. For PROBE-NET, Dr Duong will assist with patient recruitment and provide clinical advice as required.

Dr Sarah Thompson - Surgery

Dr Sarah Thompson, University of Adelaide and Royal Adelaide Hospital, is an upper gastrointestinal surgeon, and PROBE-NET collaborator. Dr Thompson will assist with patient recruitment, provide clinical advice as required, working closely with CIE Watson.

Dr Yuri Bobryshev - Pathology

Dr Yuri Bobryshev, Research Pathologist from UNSW, will continue to work closely with CIC to develop and validate biomarkers for progression from BO to OAC. He is co-located with CIC Lord.
